With the exception of calves under 30-days-old going directly to slaughter, all cattle and deer will need to be individually tagged and recorded onto the NAIT database. Under the NAIT system we will want to know where all animals are at a given point of time, including the farm of origin. This is needed in the event of a biosecurity outbreak so that at-risk animals can be identified quickly.
