DO I NEED TO TAG BOBBY CALVES?

The existing commercial schemes for payment purposes are considered adequate for traceability of calves less than 30-days-old going directly to slaughter. Such animals will not be recorded on NAIT (although provision to do so will be built into the system) as any biosecurity/infectious disease risk from these calves is minimal.

However, for calves going to other properties and calves 30 days or older, RFID tagging and recording on NAIT will be required as for other cattle and deer.
